Family Reunification
A 10 hours Seminar that will address the complex and multifaceted dynamics of family ties and relationships of foreigners, focusing on the legal, socio-legal and communicative aspects of foreign families. The seminars will focus on the right to family reunification, both in relation to mixed families of EU citizens and third country nationals, and in relation to families composed exclusively of third country nationals. The seminars will also address specific dimensions of the family reunification process, focusing on the situation of beneficiaries of international protection and temporary protection, on the family ties of minors and unaccompanied minors, and on the importance of the right to family unity - after reunification - as a limit to the State's power to exclude and return foreigners. The seminar cycle will adopt a multidisciplinary approach, discussing the main issues at stake with academics from different backgrounds, as well as with practitioners such as immigration lawyers and judges, in order to provide students with a concrete understanding of how the law works in practice.
