Ilaria Riva is Associate Professor of Civil Law at the Department of Law of the University of Turin.

She is the Chair Holder of Jean Monnet Chair CLOSER “Cross-border famiLies, family reunificatiOns and Successions mattERs” (funded by European Union, 2024-2027) and Principal Investigator of Prin ESODI “Engaging with Settlement Obstacles: legal Diversity and socio-economic Inclusion of migrant families” (funded by Italian “Ministero dell'università e della ricerca”).

Teaching staff
Eleonora Celoria is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Turin and an immigration and asylum lawyer. She holds a PhD in Law and Institutions from the University of Turin and her research interests focus on irregular migration and administrative detention, and children's rights in migration. She is a tutor of the legal clinic in Human rights and Immigration law (HRMLC).
Manuela Consito is Full Professor of Administrative and Public Law at the University of Turin, where she has been teaching immigration law for several years. She has published extensively on citizenship, migrant families, the reception of asylum seekers and children's rights. She is Director of the Law Degree Course at the University of Turin and Coordinator of the UniTo Clinic for Human Rights and Migration Law.
Maria Cristina Gruppuso is a PhD candidate in “Law, Person and Market” and a Research Fellow at the University of Turin. She was also an Adjunct Lecturer in the course “Civil Law II: Succession Law.”
Over the years, she has developed expertise in dealing with family relationships, including succession aspects, from the perspective of EU private international law, as attested by her completion of a Postgraduate Course in “Cross-border Families: Disciplining the Crisis and the Generational Transfer of Wealth”, organised by the University of Milan, and her period abroad as Visiting Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg (Germany).

She is a lawyer and member of ASGI (the Association for Juridical Studies on Immigration), where she coordinates the legal support and strategic litigation offered on the issue of anti-discrimination. She is a counsellor for the Municipality of Turin on the topic of immigration and social housing and she is a regular trainer and speaker in ASGI conferences and webinars related to anti-discrimination and immigration law. She is a member of the Committee for Equal Opportunities at the Bar Association in Turin.
Elena Garelli graduated from the University of Turin with a thesis on access to rights for immigrants and asylum seekers. She is currently an immigration and asylum lawyer, and a member of ASGI (the Association for Juridical Studies on Immigration). She collaborates with various associations in the Turin area and is involved in free legal aid projects to provide access to justice for vulnerable and marginalised groups. Since 2023, she has been working as a tutor at the Human Rights and Migration Law Clinic (HRMLC) of the University of Turin.
Lawyer, graduated from La Sapienza University of Rome under the supervision of Professor Cervati on in European Law. He specialized in Human Rights and International Cooperation at the Italian Society for International Organization (SIOI). Since 2003, he has been actively engaged in the field of asylum law and refugee protection. Initially, he worked with the Italian Council for Refugees, focusing on territorial access and unaccompanied children.
During this period, he acted also as legal consultant for the Municipality of Rome. Since 2008, he has been with the Italian office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), where his responsibilities have included the recognition of international protection, EU policies, and more recently, resettlement and complementary pathways.
He is a regular trainer and speaker at master’s and specialization courses in asylum law and collaborates with the Italian Encyclopedia “TRECCANI”. Last article: Why identification matters: an explorative study on six cases of family reunification.
Maura Radicioni was awarded her PhD in Interpreting Studies from the FTI, University of Geneva (Switzerland), with a research project on humanitarian interpreting in February 2024. She obtained her MA in Conference Interpreting from the University of Bologna, DIT at Forlì (Italy) in 1997. Since then, she has served as a professional conference interpreter with over 3,000 conference interpreting days, as well as working as an interpreter trainer. She was lecturer in English-Italian liaison and conference interpreting at the Forlì-based DIT of the University of Bologna from 2003 to 2019, with teaching assignments also at the University of Macerata and Università Politecnica delle Marche. From July to October 2017, she was involved as a trainer in the first humanitarian interpreting pilot course carried out in Italy, jointly organized in blendedlearning mode by the University of Bologna DIT and the University of Geneva FTI. Since June 2021 she has been a member of the team of trainers of the basic consecutive interpreting courses jointly organized by the University of Geneva FTI and the ICRC.

Daniela Boggiali is Legal Officer at the National Council of Italian Notaries for the provision of legal advice and research activities in the fields of commercial, civil and international law.
She’s Head of the legal Units Corporate and International Affairs and Member of the Company Law Committee, No profit Organizations Committee and European and International Affairs Committee of the Italian Notary Council. She’s also teacher at the National Notary School of Law.
Her main activity is to produce studies, legal opinions and interpretations of legislative and jurisprudential innovations in particular for the notarial category and she frequently attends as a speaker in various legal conferences and as a teacher at University’s courses.
She wrote several essays published in scientific treaties and reviews regarding different juridical sectors, such as civil, commercial and private international law.
Martina D'Onofrio is currently researcher in private law at the University of Milan-Bicocca. She obtained her PhD at the University of Verona, as part of the joint doctoral programme with the University of Bayreuth (Germany).
In the context of a research project at the University of Bozen, she worked on the succession of the family business in German-speaking countries.
She is the author of two books and several articles on civil law topics.
Simona Novaretti is an Associate Professor of Comparative Private Law at the University of Turin, School of Law, where she teaches Chinese Law, Comparative Law, and Law and Society in Asia. She graduated and obtained her Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Chinese Language and Literature from the University of Venice, Ca’Foscari, got her LLB and LLM from the University of Turin, School of Law, and got her Ph.D. in Comparative Law from the University of Milan. Her research activity focuses on Chinese Law. She has published articles on Chinese law and language, Chinese contract law, Chinese public interest law and Chinese law and society. She has published monographs on public interest litigation in China, and on public participation in the protection of cultural heritage in the PRC. She is currently working on a monograph exploring the interrelationship between bioethics and law in China with a particular focus on the experiences of human vulnerability, including the challenges and complexities associated with birth, suffering and death (Brill, 2025). Simona is member of the scientific committee of the Institute of Asian Studies (ISA), of the Interdisciplinary Center for Research and Studies of Women and Gender (Centro Interdisciplinare di Ricerche e Studi delle Donne e di Genere – CIRSDe) and of the Interdipartimental Center Labont - Laboratory for Ontology . She is also member of the European Chinese Law Association; of the Italian Association of Comparative Law; of the Italian Society for the Research on Comparative Law; of the Italian Association of Chinese Studies; and of the European Law Institute.
Alice Pereira Santos Rodrigues is a PhD candidate in "European and International Law" at the University of Verona. She also earned her Master’s degree at the University of São Paulo (Brazil) with the thesis “The Foreseeability of Damages as a Criterion for Limiting Contractual Liability in Brazilian Law”, for which she was awarded honors (cum laude). During her Master’s studies, she served as a Teaching Assistant in “Obligations and Contract Law” at the University of São Paulo and was a visiting researcher at the University of Verona. Additionally, she worked as a lawyer in São Paulo, specializing in Arbitration and Legal Opinions on Private Law.
Prof. Dr. Stefano Porcelli is Associate Professor at the School of Law, University of Brescia - qualified as a Full Professor by the Italian National Scientific Habilitation Commission (ASN), 外聘教授 (‘External Professor’) at the College of Comparative Law of the China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) teaching a course on “Fundamentals of international contracts and arbitration”, International arbitrator: currently member of the panels of the Beijing Arbitration Commission and of the Hainan International Arbitration Court. Steefano Porcelli has been admitted to the Italian Bar Association (2014 - 2020) Foreign Expert (SAFAE) at the School of Juris Master of the China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) Chairing Courses on the drafting of contracts, International Arbitration and other legal documents relevant in international business He holds Ph.D., cum laude, Università di Roma Tor Vergata and a Ph.D, School of Civil and Commercial Law at the China University of Political Science and Law (with a thesiswritten and defended in Chinese Mandarin language). Prof. Porcelli is the author of more than 50 publications in reputable journals and with known legal publishing houses and usual guest and organizer of Law related Conferences in Asia, Europe and Latin-America. He is also a Member of scientific committees, editorial boards, and referee committees of several reputable legal journals, Director of the Research Observatory on the Law of Persons of the Latin-American Legal Studies Center at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, Member of several Research centers such as the China Arbitration Institute (CUPL); Institute on Roman Law, Chinese Law and Italian Law (CUPL), Latin-American Legal Studies Center (University of Rome Tor Vergata).
